CHRISTMAS 2005 AND THE ZIPLOCK OMLETTE

Christmas, as prevoiusly posted, is my favorite time of the year. With the need for greed out of my system, along with the need to overextend myself financially eliminated, it is much easier to enjoy the festive season leading up to Christmas and the New Year! As it was necessary to visit stores, it was quite enjoyable to wish a Merry Christmas to others, especially those that insisted on a Happy Holidays greeting to me. Surprisingly enough, each were happy to hear Merry Christmas.

Guests aplenty at home this year, but everything edible was ready for consumption by 3pm Christmas day. Not to mention cookies, candies and pies prepared ahead of time and plenty of snacks to tide those with hearty appetites over until meal time. Everything went off well and it was a terrificly Merry Christmas for us all!

The next morning, for breakfast, I decided to try something new. Fortunately my good friend in Candada sent me a recipe for Ziplock Omlettes...I'm going to share it with you in a moment...that was fun, tasty and so easy to do with an even easier clean-up. It got everyone involved. All I had to do was prepare the ingredients (chopped/diced things like cheese, onions, green pepper, ham, mushrooms, tomatoes) and have salt and pepper available, wrote each persons name on their personalized ziplock bag and put on a large pot of water and brought it to a rolling boil. The rest of the omlette prep was up to each guest. I then sealed the bags, removing the excess air, and dropped it into the boiling water. 13 minutes later, I removed the bag, let the water drip off into the pot, opened the bag and inverted it over a plate...the omlette came rolling out onto the plate making the perfect omlette! Tasty too. Here's the recipe...try it, you'll love it..no oils needed and the taste is great!

ZIPLOC OMELETS

Have you ever heard of this? (This works great! Good for when all yourfamily is together and no one has to wait for their special omelet)
Have guests write their name on a quart-size ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker. Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them.

Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, chopped green pepper, olives, mushrooms, pepperoni, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc. Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shakes it. Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.

Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes. You can usually cook 6-8omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water. Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed! Nice to serve with fresh fruit and coffee cake; everyone gets involved inthe process and a great conversation piece!

New Year is just around the corner..and it's going to be a fantastic one! Hope you have a Terrific New Year too!

BROADVOICE BROADBAND TELEPHONE SERVICE

In a previous post, I was totally excited about the new broadband telephone service to which I had subscribed. It is with great excitement that once again I tout this service. After extensive research and comparisons of the various broadband telephone services available, it is still apparent that BroadVoice offers the best rate and the most features than any of the others. For this reason, I don't understand when I see the broadband routers/phone adapters in stores, must are pre-programmed with Vonage. Vonage has a higher monthly rate and charges per minute fees to most countries outside of the United States. Broadvoice, on the other hand, allows calls to 21 countries for their World Unlimited...for NO per minute charges. Everything is included in the $19.95 monthly fee (plus taxes of course). By everything, I mean voice mail, speed dial, auto redial, caller id, ability to check and set things up online(including voice messages) and all calls (even calls that would ordinarily be long distance) and an entire host of other things like call forwarding, call blocking, call waiting....well...you get the idea by now. For an additional $1.95 each, it was possible to set up a number in England so that friends there may dial a local number for them and ring to me! Coolest thing ever! Also, when this number is dialed, there is a distinctive ring so that I know it's them trying to reach me. Did I mention that it is possible to take the phone adapter with me when I travel so that I can make and receive calls any time it is connected to high speed internet! It still does not cost extra! Unbelievable!..yet true!

You are urged to take advantage of this spectacular service and get signed up today for all of your personal and business calls. Just hit the link below..it will take you where you need to go to check it out for yourself. Here you can read all about the features, charges and benefits of Broadvoice communications.

Sign up for BroadVoice!

The only downside that should be noted is that the 911 emergency service is not available at this time. Plans are in the making to make it available, however, and all subsribers will be notified when it becomes available.

What a great Christmas gift for loved ones!

TRIBUTE TO MY MOST LOYAL BUDDY

Overcome with sadness and tears that just won't stop even as I try to express my appreciation of my loyal companion of 10 years. There is no way to express the sorrow of losing a loyal pet. Boots definitely became a member of my family very much like a child. He was a lost dog when he found me...literally found me. The bond between us was even more special because he chose me. We became inseparable...he went to work with me, he took trips with me..he went to the store with me when it wasn't too hot to leave him in the car...he went boating with me...well, we just did everything together.

He loved people, especially children! And was in general a friendly, loving dog with a wagging tail that never ceased. It wagged so much, in fact, that I became afraid that it would fly right off his rear end! It served as a great coffee table duster and would clear almost anything off the table with a single pass! And did I mention the kisses...well he loved to give them...especially to toddlers and me!

There is so much more to say...but I just can't right now....December 2, 2005 was a very sad day for me...and it hurts so badly to have said goodbye to the friend and buddy that brought so much happiness and comfort into my life just at the time when I needed it the most. I am so thankful that we were able to share the past 10 years....Mr. Boots Smith...I salute you and thank you for being my friend!

CHRISTMAS 2005: PREPARATIONS

It's the most wonderful time of the year! It's true for me and I hope for you as well. In spite of the commercialism that the retail driven agenda pounds into our brains it is still a season of giving, caring and reaching out to those around us. So I want to wish a very Merry Christmas to each and everyone that takes the time to read this blog...and even those that don't!

Thanksgiving was a quiet time for me this year. A small meal (yeah right!) was prepared with turkey and all the trimmings. Did I mention there was pie? Well, there were 2 of them...pumpkin and coconut cream! Yum! In addition, there were mashed taters with gravy of course, stuffing, green beans and sweet potato souffle'. WE all ate until stuffed...then rested a bit and did it again! A shame really...but we were and are thankful and totally enjoyed the blessings.

Usually I prefer to have outdoor Christmas decorations up and ready to "light up" on Thanksgiving night. This year decorations were ready the weekend following. Now the tree is up and lighted and the yard is ablaze with colored lights, candy canes and a Nativity...the true uncommercialzed reason for this season...it's not happy holiday in this house...nor is there a holiday tree or holiday gifts...no sir! It's strictly Christmas....the way it should be:

"And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them. And the glory of the Lord shone round about them, and they were sore afraid. But the Angel said unto them, "Fear Not! For behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be sign unto you. You shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger." Then suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host singing praises to God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest and on earth, peace, good will toward men."

So, as you go through this wonderful Christmas season be sure to make it count and enjoy each and every second of it.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL...AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT
